Whatever reason brings you here, whether it’s research or curiosity or sheer chance, we hope you find something of interest.

 

Star of the Sea is the newest of the 25 Provinces or Districts that comprise the Marist Brothers, an International Religious Institute of the Catholic Church. You can find this explained on the Institute’s website. 

 

Our Founder was St Marcellin Champagnat (1789-1850), and to distinguish our Religious family from other branches of the Marist Family, such as the Marist Fathers, the Marist Sisters or the Marist Missionary Sisters, we tend to use the nomenclature, Champagnat Marists or Marists of Champagnat.

 

Our Province covers the life and work of the Champagnat Marists in 11 countries across Australia, Asia, Melanesia and the Pacific: Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, Cambodia, East Timor, Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
