The Divine Word University community in Papua New Guinea came together on 1 July to celebrate Br Francis Hough as he marked 60 years as a Marist Brother.

The Jubilee celebration was a joyful occasion, with Fr Phil presiding over the Eucharistic liturgy alongside four other priests. The students led the music, while the Sisters beautifully decorated the altar, and Br Francis shared a heartfelt reflection at the conclusion of the Mass.
The festivities continued with student cultural dancing, the cutting of a celebratory cake, and ice cream, while the chapel entrance was adorned with blue and white balloons.

The celebration followed another enriching experience for Br Francis, who recently accompanied around 70 Divine Word Catholic students to the University of Goroka for a gathering of Catholic tertiary students from universities across Papua New Guinea.

As Br Francis celebrates six decades of Marist life, his continued ministry at Divine Word University remains a testament to his lifelong commitment to education, accompaniment and making Jesus Christ known and loved among young people.
