Provincial Br Darren Burge Visits Timor-Leste, Meets with Bishop and Three Brothers’ Communities

The Brothers and young men in formation in Timor-Leste were delighted recently to welcome Br Darren Burge, Provincial, for a brief visit to the country.

During his visit, Br Darren met with Bishop Leandro Maria Alves, Bishop of Baucau, to deepen the relationship between the Marist Brothers and the local Church. While in the Diocese, Br Darren also took the opportunity to visit the Brothers and Marist communities in Triloka and Lautem, Baucau, sharing time with them and gaining a deeper appreciation of their life and mission.

During his visit, Br Darren spent time at the Vila Marista Boa Mãe, Triloka, where he met with the postulants and student Brothers. This provided an opportunity for conversation and sharing about their experience of formation, community life and their hopes as they continue to discern and deepen their Marist vocation.

Although Br Darren’s time in Timor-Leste was brief, it was marked by warm encounters, fraternity and a shared sense of hope. His visit reflected the joy and optimism surrounding the continuing growth of Marist life and mission in Timor-Leste and the promise represented by a new generation of young men responding to the call to Marist Brotherhood.
