Ten young Marist Brothers from across the Asia-Oceania region have commenced the 2026 QUEST program (formerly Preparation for Perpetual Profession Program), a formation journey that prepares participants for Perpetual Profession as Marist Brothers.

Held every two years in a different location across the region, QUEST provides an opportunity for Brothers approaching their final vows to deepen their understanding of the evangelical vows and other essential aspects of consecrated religious life.
The QUEST program has become an important part of Marist formation in the Asia-Oceania region. The inaugural regional program was held in Lomeri, Fiji, in 2019 under the direction of Br Bryan Davis and Br Ted Fernandez. It was followed by the 2022 program in Port Dickson, Malaysia, directed by Br Bryan Davis and Br Tony Leon, and the 2024 program in Vung Tau, Vietnam, facilitated by Br John Hazelman and Br Real Sauvageau. This year's program is being held at the Marist Asia Pacific Centre (MAPAC) in the Philippines and is directed by Br Tony Leon and Br Real Sauvageau.

The 2026 program brings together 10 participants from Bangladesh, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, representing two Marist Provinces and one District.
The Star of the Sea Province is represented by five Brothers, Br Carlvin Rumina (Papua New Guinea), Br Gaspar Te'un (Timor-Leste), Br Jacinto Fuli Falo (Timor-Leste), Br Melquiano Obe (Timor-Leste), and Br Petero Navuku (Fiji).

One of the highlights of this year's program is that the QUEST participants are sharing the MAPAC campus with 17 novices who began their novitiate on 6 June. The presence of both groups creates a unique formation environment, allowing Brothers at different stages of their vocational journey to live, pray and learn alongside one another.
The program began online on 15 June before the participants gathered at MAPAC on 29 June. For many, the centre is a familiar place, having previously completed part of their formation there as scholastics. They have returned to a place that is both familiar and renewed, while they themselves have also grown through several years of ministry, community living and apostolic experience.

Over the next four weeks, the Brothers will reflect on the evangelical vows, Marist spirituality and other key aspects of religious life as they prepare for the final stage of their journey towards Perpetual Profession.
